Motherhood was supposed to be filled with joy, but instead, I found myself overwhelmed by postpartum depression (PPD)—isolated, exhausted, and doubting my ability to be a good mother. I struggled to bond with my son, feeling like I was failing him.
Then came the COVID-19 pandemic, amplifying my loneliness and anxiety. I lost my appetite, became malnourished, and my emotions spiraled out of control—from anger to despair. At my lowest, I shut myself away, ignoring my son’s knocks, neglecting his needs, and withdrawing from the world.
I felt lost, hopeless, and drowning in my pain. But this breaking point became the foundation for change—a journey of healing, self-discovery, and transformation.
In the depths of my despair, a small spark of resilience began to grow.
One day, as I lay numb and disconnected, a voice on the radio caught my attention. It was a show where people shared their personal struggles, offering a hotline for those in need. Desperate and broken, I picked up the phone and dialed.
A kind voice answered. After a few gentle questions, they asked me something simple yet profound:
“What have you eaten today?”
I hesitated before admitting, “Nothing. I’ve only been drinking water.”
There was no judgment, no lecture—just encouragement.
“Go and have a proper meal. Your body needs it, and you’ll feel better.”
That small act of kindness was the first step in my journey toward healing. Sometimes, the simplest gestures hold the greatest power.
